COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY

At Rula, we understand the importance of sustainable development to ensure a better future for the next generation. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected our projects, we create spaces that are not only functional but also environmentally responsible.

Sustainable Building Practices

We employ a range of sustainable building practices to minimise our environmental impact:

  • Renewable Energy: We incorporate renewable energy sources, to generate energy demand on-site and reduce carbon emissions
  • High-Performance Building Fabric: We adopt a “fabric first”, using high-performance insulation and energy-efficient glazing. Resulting in lower operational energy demand and carbon emissions
  • Energy Efficiency: Our buildings are designed to maximise energy efficiency through various products such as LED Lighting, state-of-the-art heating and cooling systems via Air Source Heat Pumps and Natural and Mechanical Ventilation with heat recovery
  • All-Electric Buildings: Our buildings are generally “all-electric”, avoiding fossil fuel combustion on-site.
  • Water Conservation: Our projects include low water usage sanitaryware, sometimes rainwater harvesting systems, and drought-resistant landscaping to conserve water resources
  • Sustainable Materials: Our Supply Chain select and use eco-friendly materials, including recycled and locally sourced products, to reduce our carbon footprint
  • Electric Vehicle Charging: Our projects include provision of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points
  • Reducing Embodied Carbon: We regularly monitor and reduce the “Upfront Carbon Emissions” of our projects.

Green Certifications

Our commitment to sustainability is recognised through the following certifications:

  • EPC Ratings: A to A+
  • BREEAM: We strive for BREEAM certification, which assesses the sustainability of our projects across a range of criteria covering the design, construction and operation of our buildings. Depending on the project, we regularly target BREEAM Excellent certification as our standard
  • Well V2: We consider the Well V2 Standards when designing offices to improve the health and wellbeing of future occupants

Community and Environmental Impact

We understand that our developments have a significant impact on the communities and environments in which they are located. In response we ensure:

  • Engagement with Local Communities: Working closely with local communities to ensure our projects accommodate needs and are better understood
  • Preserve Natural Habitats: When designing schemes we seek to preserve natural habitats and biodiversity, integrating green spaces and wildlife corridors into our developments
  • Encourage Sustainable Practices: Our developments are designed to promote sustainability, including features such as bike paths and public transport connections
  • Local labour: We work with our supply chain and encourage the use of local labour where possible

Innovation and Future Goals

We are constantly innovating to improve sustainability practices. Our future goals include:

  • Net-Zero Buildings: We are working towards the delivery of net-zero buildings
  • Circular Economy: We are exploring ways to implement circular economy principles, reducing waste and promoting the reuse of materials
  • Sustainable Urban Development: We are committed to creating sustainable urban environments that support healthy, vibrant communities
